Cigna is an established insurance agency that offers one of the wider selections of Medicare Supplement (Medigap) plans in the U.S.. Because private companies are not required to offer all 10 Medigap policies to their clients, most settle with just three or four on their rosters.
Cigna Medicare has eight, giving individuals more options to choose the best add-on policy that would enhance their Original Medicare coverage. Healthcare and medical products, especially those that are needed beyond the age of 65, are costly. This is why the decision to sign up for Medigap is often non-negotiable. The real question, really, is which ones to enrol into.
Cigna is an all-encompassing insurance provider with products and services for the young, middle-aged, and elderly. In addition to Medicare supplements, it offerings include insurance for accidents, life, health, and disability in the U.S. and internationally. In fact, it has presence in Canada, China, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, New Zealand, South Korea, Spain, Taiwan, Thailand, Turkey, and the UK.
The company is headquartered in Bloomfield, Connecticut and lists Cigna Health and Life Insurance, American Retirement Life Insurance, and Loyal American Life Insurance as its subsidiaries.
Cigna Medicare Supplement insurance includes Medigap Plans A, B, C, D, F, High Deductible F (HDF), G, and N.
It is important to note that not all these plans are available in all U.S. states, so be sure to ask your provider if your area is included and what benefits are covered. For instance, residents in Minnesota and Wisconsin are given specific plan packages with optional riders.
In addition, all Medigap plans are available to those who qualify for Medicare due to disability in the following areas: Colorado, Delaware, Georgia, Hawaii, Idaho, Illinois, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Missouri, Mississippi, Montana, New Hampshire, Oregon, Pennsylvania, South Dakota, Tennessee, and Vermont.
Because Cigna has a very large healthcare network, the company also offers insurance packages that go beyond the regular or standard Medigap plans. These include lump sum stroke and heart attack coverage, accident expenses, and cancer treatments. It also offers Medicare Advantage for those individuals who want an all-in-one solution and not the Original Medicare + Medigap combination.
One good thing about having a Cigna policy is that you will not be required to seek services from only a predetermined network of healthcare facilities and doctors. It works with any provider that accepts Medicare. It also assures guaranteed renewal except, of course, in cases of misrepresentation or non-payment.
Another important factor is that state laws on Medicare vary so there might be differences in the benefits offered by Cigna per state, as well. For instance, Cigna Medicare Supplement Plan C does not include Medicare Part B in North Carolina, although it is offered in many other areas under the same company. This is why it is important to discuss your options with a representative or an expert advisor first before diving in.
