Treating clients as if they were our own family members
When you are enrolled in Medicare, even if you are generally in good health and maintain an active lifestyle, you will at some point need to include a Medicare Supplement to your plan when you turn 65 years old. Original Medicare already covers plenty of your possible healthcare and maintenance needs, but there still are crucial elements that the federal government simply cannot cover because of budget issues. This is the reason why Medicare Supplements (Medigap) was created—that is, to fill the “gap” that the Original policy does not take care of.
Thrivent is a not-for-profit membership organization for Christians and has been in operation for over 100 years now. Though its suite of products and services, the group guides members through a so-called Wise with Money Journey, which is designed to help people practice sound financial habits while living a Christian way of life. It began in the early 20th century as a financial support system for Lutherans but in 2013 decided to extend its scope to include all Christians.
As of December 31, 2017, Thrivent records $136 billion in assets and is listed as a Fortune 500 company. In 2018, it also received an A++ (Superior) rating from A.M. Best, an AA+ (Very Strong) rating from Fitch Ratings, and is among the World’s Most Ethical Companies on the 2017 list by the Ethisphere Institute. The company offers a wide range of financial products and services for individuals, businesses, schools, churches and fellow non-profits, and advisors and independent producers.
Medicare Supplements were introduced and standardized across the U.S. as the federal government’s way of helping curb the out-of-pocket expenses that citizens take care of for services that are not part of the Original Medicare. Because the government simply cannot shoulder all the cost of senior health care, Medigap plans were born and it is up to the individual to choose which of the ten pre-set plans will best fit his or her needs.
Medigap is sold via private insurance agencies, whose premium rates may vary. Thrivent is one such private company that offers Medicare Supplements.
Because Thrivent is a Christian-led institution that guides its members into a life of financial stability, contentment, and charity, members feel more at ease knowing that beyond profit, the company’s goal is to strengthen communities and families. With a unique and refreshing way to approach the discussion about finances, members tend to carry a more positive view towards it—and this is what makes the organization one of the most stable insurers in the country.
Thrivent also offers a 30-day free look arrangement, where you can claim a full refund on your premium if you are not satisfied with the contract.
There are 10 Medigap plans to choose from, with each coming with a lower or higher monthly premium depending on how comprehensive its coverage goes. Take note that the benefits that Medigap policies provide are the same across the different states, though the rates may vary if the private insurance agency chooses to bundle it with another policy, enhance it with a additional coverage, or accompany it with special services.
Medigap also provides guaranteed coverage regardless of your pre-existing health condition if you just turned 65 years old and enrolled within the six-month Open Enrollment period. It is important to take note of the three months before and after your 65th birth month because it is the best time to select any Medigap policy without having to be subjected to any form of medical underwriting. This means that insurers are forbidden from rejecting your application even if it finds an illness. If you fail to enrol during Open Enrollment, insurance providers will then have the right to turn your application down or ask for higher premiums.
