Treating clients as if they were our own family members
United American is one of the oldest insurance agencies existing since the U.S. government signed the Medicare program into law in the 1960s. Founded in 1947, it handles the insurance policies of millions of Americans and has established offices in almost every state. Its parent firm, Torchmark Corporation, is also one of the most stable companies in the country.
In July 2018, A.M. Best Company gave United American an A+ (Superior) financial strength rating. In year before that (November 20187), Standard & Poor’s awarded it with an AA- (Very Strong) rating. Financial strength is a key indicator of an insurance agency’s ability to meet claims. This is why United American Medicare Supplements, in as well as the company’s suite of products, are a popular choice.
The company offers 10 of the 11 standardized Medigap policies (except Plan E) and their availability can vary in every state. Take note that Medicare Supplements are the same across locations and regardless of the insurance provider, although their rates and other top-ups and add-ons may differ. All Medigap policy holders, regardless where you sign up, are entitled to the following benefits:
– Part A coinsurance, with coverage for an extra 365 days after the Medicare benefits end
– Part B coinsurance or copayments for hospital outpatient services, which is typically 20% of Medicare approved costs*
– Part A coinsurance for respite or hospice care costs
– First three pints of blood per year
*Medicare Supplement Plans K, L, and N will require policy holders to pay a part of the Part B coinsurance or copayments
Inclusion for the other Medigap benefits depends on the type of Plan you enrolled in. Expectedly, the premiums for such expanded plans are higher.
According to the company website, the most sought-after United American Medicare Supplements are Plan F and High-Deductible F.
Plan F is the most all-encompassing policy that Medigap offers because it literally takes care of all the “gaps” that the Original Medicare program does not provide. This leaves policy holders will little to zero spending on both Part A and Part B services. For seniors or would-be seniors who want to enjoy the high security that Plan F brings but do not have the funds for its premiums, you can opt for Plan N or Plan G, instead, or you can choose to sign up for a High-Deductible Plan F program.
The High-Deductible Plan F by United American is priced competitively and is available in many states. This special program’s benefits are similar to the regular Plan F, only that you will be asked to pay out of pocket after Original Medicare takes care of its part. When your limit is met, United American will then step in to shoulder the remainder of the cost for the rest of the year. Just to give you an idea, the deductible for HDF is $2,240 as of January 1, 2018.
To help you decide whether United American Medicare Supplements are for you, here are the company’s standard benefits, regardless of the type of Medigap Plan you choose.
– The plans are 100% renewable and you will not be cancelled because of a health condition
